They eat mince fine - beef and turkey so far. We don't feed 100% raw, only in afternoon/evenings when more time to prepare so we don't give veg.
I think I read not to give them raw pork, presumably for same reasons it can be bad news for us?
They were fed on crappy tinned food by the breeder and the difference in their coats is quite remarkable, they are our little silk pillows, it does make a difference and of course their deposits don't smell these days - wonderful!

I agree about the difference in the quality, softness and shine of raw-fed cats' coats - my two have changed over to raw, and while the kitten just can't get enough of her raw meat, the older girl (only 1 year but knows what she likes) has been slower to make the transition. Still, we're almost there! Just a word of caution re feeding raw later in the day - I assume you therefore give them commercial in the morning? Commercial food has a longer digestion time than raw, and can back up the raw in the gut, giving it time to potentially develop bacteria such as salmonella. If feeding both raw and commercial, allow time between: Raw takes 6-12 hours to digest (depending on density/amount of meat, eg. poulty takes less time than beef or lamb); commercial takes 12-24 hours to digest (grain-free, good quality min.60% meat content commercial takes less time). I try to follow this rule at this early stage when the raw doesn't always work out with defrosting and preparation.
